Keith's means were less than meagre his ill-paid magazine job was at stake his wife- and the child they now knew was virtually their own-had nothing to fall back on if Keith, too, perished. But when his sister and her husband were wrecked off Tahiti, only Keith had a clue as to what had happened to that estate- converted as it had been into 27 thousand pounds in diamonds. Keith had been appointed sole trustee for his brother-in-law's presumably large estate and only child. ![]() And when it came to the challenge that pulled him up by the roots and sent him off to a coral reef in the far Pacific, Keith proved as intrepid and determined as Mr. Keith Stewart, a toolroom fitter who had given up his factory job to devote himself to his hobby of miniature machines and to writing about them in a magazine that made friends for him around the world, recalls somewhat the colorless little Mr. ![]()

Buntin’s novel is a miracle and a masterwork, and the reasons behind this are both incredibly obvious and entirely elusive. This is a book I have read countless times, one of those books I turn to for comfort and solace even if sometimes they hold exactly the opposite of this. Just like OCD, Obsessive Love Disorder overwhelms you with intrusive thoughts. Nevertheless, it is a very real experience that’s comparable to obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), as described in this table. You won’t actually find this term in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders. The signs someone is obsessed with you can further develop into an obsessive love disorder (OLD). The ‘obsessed with someone’ definition is to be addicted. Obsessive love is also superficial and comes with a constant deluge of thoughts about the object of desire. Having an obsession with someone is very similar to infatuation. I would like to be that unnoticed and that necessary.” Now, doesn’t that feel obsessive? ![]() One day, her alcoholic mom reappears after seven years with her boyfriend. The two children have been living with the grandmother for a long time. The main character, Naomi has a strong bond with her disabled brother and grandmother. I wanted to keep finding out what was going to happen with Naomi. Wow! This book was intense and a lot of things were happening with the characters. Take THAT, Skyla!! She's one brave little girl, is Naomi Leon-"a mouse with a lioness' voice." I want to be like her :-)Īlso, can I just say I love Santiago? Like, SO MUCH? Because I do. At the very end, in the courtroom scene, where Naomi stands up in front of everyone and basically tells her mother she's had enough, I was internally screaming "YOU GO GIRL!!!!!!!!!" Loved that part so much. It's such a beautiful story, too, because it's all about a child (Naomi) who suffers from anxiety and confidence issues due to her AWFUL mother's neglectful/abusive treatment of her, and how she eventually finds the strength to overcome those fears and speak up for herself, loud and clear. ![]() ![]() Everything that scares Naomi, scares you and everything that makes her happy, makes you happy too. ![]() You feel like you're ten years old again when you're reading it, honestly. ![]() This book is fantastic, the way it gives a window into a young child's mind and lets you truly SEE everything as it appears to her perspective. Apparently, I have a new favorite author: ![]() ![]() There’s no overt changing of names or fictional studios used. I was very surprised to actually see acknowledgment of actors and studios. ![]() There’s no description of his origins and the movie falls into a pattern of womanizing, filming, womanizing, filming. The movie captures the films leading from Flynn’s début up to the late thirties-early forties and ending with the scandal of Flynn’s dalliance-and possible rape-of an underage girl of which he was later acquitted. My Wicked, Wicked Ways details the exploits of actor Errol Flynn (Duncan Regehr) and his torrid marriage to actress Lili Damita (Barbara Hershey).įor a two-hour and seventeen minute TV movie there’s a very small window of time covered, or the few events of Flynn’s life took several years to unfold. ![]() The acting isn’t terrible, but it’s hard to swallow a tale wherein the world apparently begins and ends with Flynn (then again, don’t all biopics?). (Let’s all think about the fact Gable and Lombard was released to theaters at all.) I compare the two because My Wicked, Wicked Ways, loosely based on Errol Flynn’s autobiography is only fascinated in showing life as Flynn perceived it (or as the screenwriters perceived Flynn to have lived his life), turning the movie into one misogynistic fantasy. ![]() My Wicked, Wicked Ways is the bastard cousin of Gable and Lombard, if Gable and Lombard was a TV movie instead of a big-screen presentation. ![]() |
